Bloomfield Hills Insurance Agency (BHIA) is an independent insurance agency dedicated to providing proper insurance coverage and premiums to our clients. We represent a number of insurance companies that offer a wide range of insurance products. Bloomfield Hills Insurance Agency believes in matching your current risk exposure to an insurance carrier that not only covers your risk, but targets you as a customer. This match will bring greater coverage and lower premiums, however, a thorough review is still required to customize your policies.
Bloomfield Hills Insurance Agency is a proud member of Michigan Agency Alliance, LLC (MAA). MAA was formed to allow greater insurance carrier access and a personal relationship with underwriters. MAA is made up of a few select agencies that carefully review and monitor its client base. Creating greater premium volume with each carrier allows for a better working relationship with our carriers. These relationships provide better training, claims review, underwriting consideration, and premium controls.
BHIA’s parent company, Barrett & Associates Inc, was recognized with the “Technology Pioneer Award” by Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company for their use of technology in the enhancement of agency production and customer service. Barrett & Associates is a contractor for the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association, the Michigan Recreation Vehicle and Campgrounds Association, and a member of the American Modern Insurance Group ACE agency board. Barrett & Associates is an active member of Michigan Association of Independent Agents and its local chapter, Independent Insurance Agents of Oakland County.

Mark Barrett: Mark currently serves as the president of Bloomfield Hills Insurance Agency. His proudest achievement is his relationship with his family. He has been married for over 20 years and has been working with his wife and best friend since 1994. His first position was with his family's agency, when he was 12 years old. The first commercial insurance policy he wrote was for a manufactured housing community in 1981.
Mark is currently an instructor for the State of Michigan Continuing Education Department in the field of prefabricated building installation and service.

Mark graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Finance and Marketing. He has certificates from Michigan State University, Drake University and Oberlin College, designation of Certified Insurance Counselor and a Surplus Lines License.
Mark enjoys his free time on the golf course.
Tanya Cannon, CISR: Tanya, a licensed property and casualty agent, handles personal lines sales and servicing, and small commercial lines sales with over 12 years of experience in the insurance industry. Formal training has led to her designation of Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) and she is currently working on obtaining additional designations and continued study through The National Alliance for Insurance Education. In her spare time, Tanya enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and time spent with family and friends.
Renee Dahlin is our specialist in manufactured homeowners insurance. Renee is working on getting her property and casualty insurance licenses and CISR designation. She has very little spare time but loves spending it with her 2-year-old daughter, Hope, along with cooking and, of course, shopping. Renee was once also an accomplished equestrian rider and has many ribbons to show for it and would like nothing better then to get back in the saddle one day.

Devra Barrett
has been working in commercial insurance for over 15 years. She attended the University of Kentucky majoring in Business Administration. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Independent Insurance Agents of Oakland County and on the Instar Users Group board (insurance agency operating system). She is a member of the Insurance Association of Metropolitan Detroit (IAMD) and National Association of Insurance Woman (NAIW). She has the designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR).
Alisa Lewis, CISR: Alisa, a licensed property and casualty agent, has been working in the insurance industry for 21 years. She has worked in several different areas of insurance. Beginning her career in a regional office working in the marketing department. For 5 years Alisa worked in a claims office as the claims manager secretary. She came to Barrett & Associates in January 2004. Alisa was just recently promoted from personal insurance to commercial insurance. Alisa received her CISR designation in 2006.
Alisa has a 5-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter whom she works for when she leaves her day job. Once in a while she catches a movie, usually Disney. Alisa enjoys bike riding and being outdoors with her children (and lots of shopping). She also has a 24-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old granddaughter who just moved back to Michigan from Missouri.
Sandy Cordner: Sandy, licensed in property and casualty, has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years. Sandy came to Barrett & Associates Inc. in December 2005, after 19 years with a major insurance carrier as an underwriter assistant in the Commercial Lines Department.
She is currently working on her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation.
Sandy likes to spend time with her husband, taking trips on their motorcycles. She also enjoys gardening, reading, photography and spending time with her dogs.
